Poly Forum 08 - Sep 2008

It had been a long while committing to another project. After two years of slogging for DMT, the forum may be a relief from the technical stuff. I knew it would be fun, and sure I would enjoy working with the “kids” that I meet, but still, I lamented the amount of work and time that I would have to commit. Having to facilitate the Entrepreneurship Sub-theme was a great challenge: thought that it would be more relevant for someone in the business faculty. However, to able to get it done would be a great challenge. The Polytechnic Forum 08 was over, ended with a “bang”: The main committee had done an impressive job putting the events together… but the fatigues lingering on. As usual, when a job is done everything looks simple. But really the amount of work in the background, getting participants from different parts of Singapore to share a little of their commitment, motivating them to handle the project, helping them to get it right, helping them to gel together, helping them to learn, helping them to experience, helping them to close the loops, settle the account.… The list goes on, the worry goes on and the graying persisted… Knew it would be done, Knew it would be over. But never did I know that I would meet such cool “kids” that get along like a house on fire: Nasty at times, always cheeky, ever mischievous and never stop laughing. Children, control yourself! Really, I see multitudes of gifted and talented youngsters here in Singapore. Many were extremely active with lots of other commitments. And my advice is: To excel in a particular area, you have to stay focus on the area that you are pursuing. There are many distractions around and that could be a hindrance to achieving your goal. Run-on Children!
